Mastery™ ("we," "us") operates masteryeducator.com and the Momentum Map™ tool. This policy explains what information we collect, why, and what choices you have. Mastery is currently in pilot, and this policy will be updated as the product develops.

Everything you write in your Momentum Map: your focus topic, insights, practice focus, if-then plan, teaching move, reflections, refinements, notes, and any resources you add to your Learning Playlist™
Any message you send us
Information collected automatically
Usage records: which actions you take in the tool (creating a Map, logging a reflection, starting or completing a practice cycle, using AI Polish, printing or downloading), with the date, time, and your email address
Standard technical information collected by our hosting providers
We do not use advertising trackers, analytics scripts, or tracking pixels.
What we do not want you to give us
Please do not enter student names or information that could identify a specific student. The Momentum Map asks what you noticed in your students. Use initials, "a student," or a description of what happened rather than names.
Mastery is not designed to hold student records, and we ask teachers not to put them there.
Why we collect it
To run the tool. Your email identifies your account so your Maps are there when you return. What you write is stored so you can come back to it across your practice window.
To improve the product. During the pilot, we look at what teachers chose to focus on and what teaching moves they are practicing. We do not read through your reflections.
To share what we learn. We publish aggregated, anonymized data and summaries of what the pilot group tried and noticed, with names removed, and share them back with participating teachers, conference partners, and education organizations.
To contact you about the pilot, including the follow-up session, and updates about features or new offerings.
We do not sell your information. We do not share it with advertisers.
Who else handles your information
We use third-party services to run Mastery. Each one handles your information only to provide its service to us:
Lovable (lovable.dev) hosts the Momentum Map application and its database, and sends sign-in code emails. Your account information and Map content are stored there.
Google (Gemini) receives the text of a single field when you use AI Polish, in order to return a suggested edit. Your name, email address, and the rest of your Map are not sent.
Resend (resend.com) is configured as an email sending service for our domain.
Squarespace hosts masteryeducator.com and provides an email sending service for our domain.
Google Workspace handles our email.
Where your information is stored
Our database and email sending are hosted in the United States. If you are using Mastery from outside the United States, including from Canada, your information is transferred to and stored in the United States.
How long we keep it
We keep your Map and account information for as long as your account is active, and for the duration of the pilot and our analysis of it. Usage records are kept for the same period.
Deleting a Map in the tool moves it to Recently Deleted for 30 days, after which it can be permanently removed. If you want your information deleted sooner, or deleted entirely, email us.
Your choices
You can:
See your information. Everything we hold about you is visible in your Momentum Map, or you can ask us for a copy.
Correct it. Edit your Map at any time.
Delete it. Email journey@masteryeducator.com and we will delete your Maps, your usage records, and your account.
Stop using the tool at any time, with no obligation.
Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act or Canada's PIPEDA. Email us and we will honor them.
Security
Your Momentum Map is protected by email sign-in, and our database is configured so that only you can read or change your own Maps. No system is perfectly secure, and Mastery is an early-stage product in pilot. We tell you what we have done rather than promising more than we can guarantee.
Children
Mastery is built for teachers, not students. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Schools and districts
Mastery is currently offered to individual teachers who sign up on their own. We are not acting as a school official or service provider under FERPA, and we do not hold student education records. Schools or districts interested in a partnership should contact us so we can put an appropriate agreement in place.
Changes to this policy
We will update this policy as Mastery develops and will change the date at the top. For significant changes affecting pilot participants, we will email you.
